  1. THE government continues to bring more affordable medicines and health services to Filipinos, especially underserved communities, as discussed at the 11th meeting of the Private Sector Advisory Council-Healthcare Sector Group at Malacañang Palace on Wednesday. Attended by PSAC lead convener, Aboitiz Group CEO Sabin Aboitiz, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. promoted the expansion of YAKAP clinics and GAMOT (Guaranteed Accessible Medications for outpatient Treatment) providers in underserved areas, the acceleration of digital services, and the improvement of processes to make medicines available to the public faster. The number of registered beneficiaries of YAKAP has reached 22.42 million, while 1.28 million have been provided with free medicines under GAMOT. Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration approved 6,971 Certificate of Product Registration applications from January to September 2026, a 49 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Through these measures, the government aims to reduce medical costs and accelerate access for more Filipinos to necessary medicines and health services.
