Police step up preps for Undas observance

LANAO DEL NORTE — The Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office has intensified security preparations for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on 1 and 2 November.
Police Col. Leo de Leon Sua, provincial director, said public safety remains the foremost priority as residents and visitors are expected to flock to cemeteries, memorial parks, churches, transport terminals and other public places.
The police office is strengthening operational readiness, police visibility and coordination with partner agencies to ensure a safe, peaceful and orderly observance.
In coordination with local government units, other law enforcement agencies and force multipliers, police are implementing intensified foot and mobile patrols, checkpoint and chokepoint operations, Oplan Bakal/Sita and enhanced monitoring of areas where large crowds are expected.
Uniformed and plainclothes personnel will be deployed to cemeteries, churches, commercial establishments, transport hubs, major thoroughfares and other critical areas to deter crime, assist the public and respond promptly to emergencies.
Intelligence monitoring, threat assessments and other security measures will also be strengthened to identify potential threats before they escalate.
“We have strengthened our police presence and operational preparedness to prevent criminal activities and respond promptly to any untoward incidents,” Sua said.
