Ombudsman, JSCC strengthen anti-corruption push

The Justice Sector Coordinating Council (JSCC) will strengthen its campaign to promote public accountability and combat corruption through a new inter-agency partnership with the Office of the Ombudsman, judicial officials announced.
The JSCC and the Office of the Ombudsman will sign a memorandum of understanding today at the Supreme Court in Manila to enhance institutional cooperation in the administration of justice and anti-corruption efforts.
The agreement also aims to expand collaborative capacity-building initiatives and training programs across justice sector stakeholders.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla will attend the signing ceremony alongside Supreme Court justices, JSCC technical working group leadership, Department of Justice (DoJ) Undersecretary Raul T. Vasquez, representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other senior officials.
Established through a joint declaration on 30 April 2010, the JSCC serves as a joint coordination body comprising the Supreme Court, the DoJ and the DILG.
The council’s inter-agency framework was institutionalized under Chapter 13 of the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, aligning with government initiatives to strengthen peace, security, and the rule of law through streamlined coordination among justice institutions.
