Can-Am is back in the Philippine motorcycle market after a 50-year absence, this time with two battery-powered models.
Scan Marine Inc., the official local distributor of BRP products, has introduced the 2026 Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin, two electric motorcycles developed for different riding conditions.
The Pulse is intended for everyday city travel, while the Origin is a dual-sport motorcycle that can handle paved roads and off-road trails.
Both models use BRP’s Rotax E-Power technology and an 8.9-kWh battery. A liquid-cooling system regulates the temperature of the battery, charger, inverter and motor. According to BRP, this helps reduce battery degradation and maintain charging performance over time.
With a Level 2 charger, both motorcycles can recharge from 20 to 80 percent in approximately 50 minutes.
The Pulse has an estimated city range of up to 160 kilometers. Its low center of gravity suits urban riding, while its KYB suspension provides 140 mm of travel.
The Origin takes a different approach as it has higher ground clearance, dual-sport tires and KYB suspension with 255 mm of front travel.
There are six selectable riding modes, including Off-Road and Off-Road+, to suit different road conditions. Its estimated city range is up to 145 kilometers.
Neither motorcycle requires a conventional clutch or gear shifting as both use a twist-and-go throttle, similar to the operation of an automatic scooter. They also have a reverse function to help riders maneuver at low speeds or back out of parking spaces.
Can-Am first entered the motorcycle business in 1973 and later became known for its participation in motocross and off-road racing. Its return was announced by BRP in 2022 as part of a broader plan to develop electric vehicles.
BRP produces its electric powertrains in-house, with development and assembly operations across Canada, Austria, Mexico and Finland. Its electric vehicle range also includes snowmobiles and the Rotax E10 kart powerpack.
Alongside the two motorcycles, Scan Marine has introduced the 2026 Can-Am Outlander Electric all-terrain vehicle in the Philippines.
The electric ATV is intended for utility and outdoor work, particularly in places where lower operating noise is useful.
It produces 47 horsepower and 53 lb-ft of torque through BRP’s Rotax E-Power system. Riders can select Normal, Sport or Work mode according to their needs.
The Outlander Electric has an estimated range of up to 50 miles under optimal conditions and can tow up to 1,830 pounds. It also supports more than 120 accessories.
Like the motorcycles, its battery can recharge from 20 to 80 percent in approximately 50 minutes using a Level 2 charger.
The Pulse, Origin and Outlander Electric are available for pre-order and inquiries through Scan Marine Powersports’ authorized dealer network.
Dealers are located in Parañaque, Quezon City, Angeles City, Iloilo, Mandaue and General Santos City.
Local prices and delivery dates for the three models have yet to be announced.
