CAMPI reports 20.6% September sales rise

Vehicle sales in the Philippines recovered in September after bad weather disrupted business in August, according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI).
CAMPI and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) reported combined sales of 35,722 vehicles, up 20.6 percent from August’s 29,612 units.
With estimated sales from brands outside the two groups included, total industry sales exceeded 40,240 units. This was 17 percent higher than August and the third-highest monthly sales figure so far this year.
The recovery covered both conventional internal combustion engine vehicles and electrified models. CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza said sales of gasoline and diesel vehicles increased by 19 percent from August. Electrified vehicles also posted higher sales during the month.
Atienza attributed the August slowdown to weather-related disruptions that affected market activity. He said September’s results brought sales closer to the industry’s earlier projections.
He also expressed optimism that demand would continue through the remaining months of 2026.
Toyota Motor Philippines retained its lead among CAMPI-TMA members with 18,157 vehicles sold in September, accounting for more than half of their combined sales.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines followed with 3,962 units, while Suzuki Philippines placed third with 1,466 vehicles.
Ford recorded 1,187 units, while Honda Cars Philippines completed the top five with 1,136.
Despite the September recovery, CAMPI-TMA sales were still 5.8 percent lower than the 37,915 vehicles sold in the same month last year.
