Paulo Alcazaren to explore American influence on Philippine housing
Discover how American influences shaped Philippine homes and communities after World War II in the lecture, ‘A Subdivided Nation,’ on 24 October at Ayala Museum.

30 p.m., at Ayala Museum in Makati City.
Presented by the Filipinas Heritage Library in partnership with the United States Embassy in the Philippines, the lecture accompanies the exhibition Through War and Peace: Life After Liberation. The event commemorates 80 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United States.
The lecture’s subject brings a historical perspective to familiar features of Philippine urban life: sprawling neighborhoods, residential villages, and the enduring aspiration to own a house and lot.
Alcazaren will bring four decades of design consultancy experience to the discussion.
For audiences interested in architecture, history, and the changing Filipino home, the lecture offers an opportunity to examine how postwar aspirations continue to shape the places people inhabit. Registration is free through bit.ly/fhl-usph80-alcazaren.
