Road mishap kills Security guard

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 45-year-old security guard was killed Friday evening after his motorcycle was struck from behind by an elf truck and he was run over by an oncoming pickup in Barangay Bayanga, police said.

Police identified the victim as Edwin Morello, a resident of Barangay Bayanga who also worked part-time as a habal-habal driver.

Investigators said Morello was traveling along the national highway and turning left toward a gasoline station when the truck behind him hit his motorcycle. The impact threw him into the opposite lane, where an approaching pickup ran over him.

Morello sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene.

Police said the pickup driver fled on foot, while the driver of the truck was arrested by responding officers. The report did not provide further details on possible charges or the status of the investigation.
