Two of Cebu’s much-loved restaurants had more than enough reason to celebrate, each marking a milestone that brought excitement to the city’s ever evolving dining scene.
At Mott 32, at NUSTAR, the celebration was a feast for the senses. The elegant restaurant welcomed back acclaimed Mott 32 group executive chef Lee Man Sing who specially prepared an enticing seasonal selection of Chinese dishes for the occasion. The menu showcased ingredients synonymous with Chinese luxury dining, including fish maw, grouper, crab meat, cod fish, black truffle, abalone sauce and mantis shrimp with roe. Each ingredient was transformed through chef Lee’s meticulous techniques.
The atmosphere was lively as guests gathered around beautifully presented plates, enjoying the rich flavors, delicate textures and refined presentation that are hallmarks of Chinese cuisine.
From the first bite to the last, it was a culinary journey that showcased the artistry behind the food and the pleasure of sharing a memorable meal with friends. The stylish setting of Mott 32, combined with chef Lee’s culinary creations made the occasion feel particularly special.
Over at Café Laguna, the celebration was about growth, renewal and making room for even more loyal diners. The beloved Cebuano restaurant has moved to a bigger location at Ayala Mall, giving its familiar name a fresh and more spacious setting.
Hosted by Lita Urbina and daughter Jill Viado, the gathering brought together friends, loyal patrons and guests who have watched Cafe Laguna grow through the years. The new venue provides a comfortable atmosphere for diners to gather over the Filipino dishes that have long been part of Café Laguna’s appeal. There was a sense of pride and excitement surrounding the move, a reflection of how the restaurant has evolved while remaining true to the flavors and hospitality that make it a Cebu favorite.
One brought diners an exciting fine-dining experience, while the other celebrated a new chapter and a bigger, more welcoming home. Different occasions, yet both reflect Cebu’s vibrant food culture and its enduring love for good food, warm company and the shared table where every meal becomes part of the city’s story.
