Some birthdays are simply occasions to celebrate another year, but the recent gathering at the Mist Mountain Resort felt like a little journey to a place where life is meant to be cherished and savored with family and dear friends.
And what better way to celebrate than with Sonia Yuvallos and Albert Garbanzos, two wonderful people whose lives have touched so many of us in different and meaningful ways.
As we looked around and saw everyone dressed in beautiful shades of green, it felt as though we had been transported to the enchanting Amalfi Coast. The different hues mirrored the lush colors of nature, fresh, vibrant and effortlessly elegant. For a moment everything seemed to slow down, inviting us to pause, embrace the beauty around us, enjoy the company of friends and simply celebrate life, love and the joy of being together.
A sumptuous buffet lunch was then served, offering a delightful feast of Filipino favorites. Naturally, no Cebuano celebration would be complete without the iconic Cebu lechon, perfectly complemented by Sonia’s much loved signature salad. And of course, there was an irresistible array of desserts, so tempting and plentiful that many guests found themselves returning for just one more indulgent bite. It was a true celebration of Filipino flavors, shared generously and enjoyed by everyone.
Just when the guests thought the sumptuous feast had come to an end and it was time to relax, the celebrants had another surprise in store. They ushered everyone into another room beautifully equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system and a huge TV screen setting the stage for an afternoon of music and merriment. Soon the singing was in full swing with guests happily taking turns at the microphone.
Not content to let everyone remain comfortably seated, pathologist Randolph Libres gathered the ladies onto the dance floor and got them moving to the beat. What followed was an energetic and spontaneous dance session that gave everyone a surprisingly good workout, proving that the best way to work off a sumptuous lunch is with music, laughter and plenty of dancing.
And to both of you, may the years ahead be filled with good friends around the table, long conversations, spontaneous celebrations and, perhaps, a few more adventures along the way.
