Adamson University and Arellano University dispute the first semifinals berth in the V-League Collegiate Challenge on Saturday at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.

Action starts at 10 a.m. with the winner securing the solo lead while San Beda shoots for a third straight win as it tangles with College of Saint Benilde at 12 noon.

Even without its ace Shai Nitura, Adamson has been impressive with a 4-0 record and has conceded only a set in the tournament.

The Lady Falcons are coming off a 24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 26-24 victory over the Lady Blazers last Sunday.

Nigeria’s Frances Mordi, the league’s No. 1 leading scorer and server, has been a force to reckon with on offense, while Lana Barrera, the tournament’s top spiker, has ably filled in for Nitura, and Bella Sapienza and Fhei Sagaysay are taking turns running the plays.

Meanwhile, Arellano remained undefeated in four matches, including a couple of five-set wins over University of Santo Tomas and Saint Benilde.

The Lady Chiefs have been solid thanks to the 1-2 punch of Heart Villaflores and Cris Servidad, and the league-leader in setting, Catherine Domasig.

After opening the season with back-to-back losses, the Lady Red Spikers wheeled back to semifinal contention.
