OVER 9,000 individuals have been displaced while 80,632 people have been affected across the country by the combined effects of tropical cyclones ‘Maymay’ and ‘Luis’ and the southwest monsoon, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

Infrastructure and agricultural damage caused by tropical cyclones “Luis,” “Maymay” and “Neneng,” alongside the southwest monsoon, reached P7.8 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Thursday.
Public infrastructure bore the brunt of the destruction, accounting for P5.95 billion in reported damage across the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
Agricultural losses reached P1.86 billion, affecting farmers in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
In a separate update, the Office of Civil Defense reported that the severe weather disturbances affected roughly 7.7 million individuals, or 2.2 million families, across 10 regions.
These include Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
At least 28,000 displaced residents — comprising 8,200 families — remain in 325 evacuation centers. Government agencies and local authorities have distributed 1.56 billion pesos in emergency relief assistance to date.
The storm system damaged at least 2,840 homes, including 2,500 partially damaged and 340 destroyed structures.
The death toll remains at 31, with 19 people injured and three reported missing. Benguet province suffered the highest number of fatalities with 15, including 10 landslide-related deaths in Baguio City, three in Atok, and two in La Trinidad.
