Operation Smile Philippines (OSP), a nonprofit organization that provides free surgery to children born with cleft lips and palates, marked its 30th anniversary with a charity gala at Nustar Resort Hotel. The milestone celebration, spearheaded by Mariquita Yeung, brought caring individuals who have shared in the organizations mission of giving children not only the gift of a smile, but also renewed confidence and hope.

The evening was a meaningful tribute to three decades of changing lives through compassion and generosity. It was also a celebration of the many doctors, volunteers, donors and supporters whose dedication has helped make these life changing surgeries possible.

Mariquita Yeung’s commitment and effort were evident throughout the evening making the milestone celebration both heartfelt and memorable.

Before dinner, guests were shown a moving slide presentation featuring some of the countless procedures performed by Operation Smile over the past three decades. The before and after photographs of the children were particularly touching, showing not only the physical transformation brought about by surgery, but also the confidence and hope restored to each child. The images quietly told the story of what Operation Smile has accomplished and why its mission continues to matter.

Guests enjoyed an entertaining evening with performances by the Women of Song led by Pinky Marquez and Martin Nievera who brought their energy and charm to the celebration. Their performances added a lively touch to an evening that was otherwise centered on a very meaningful cause.

One of the highlights of the evening was the auction, which brought out the generosity of the guests. The spirited bidding was more than just about taking home something special, such as jewelries, destinations, paintings and furniture, it was about giving children the opportunity to receive surgery that can change their lives.

The gala was more than just an anniversary celebration. It was a reminder that behind every smile is a story of hope, courage and a second chance and behind every story are people who cared enough to make a difference.

As the organization moves forward, its message remains the same, every child deserves the chance to smile and look forward to a bright future.
