Angel Reese delivered a career performance as the Atlanta Dream clinched a spot in the WNBA playoffs with a 99-89 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday night at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Reese posted a career-high 31 points and 14 rebounds for her 25th double-double of the season, leading the Dream to their 24th win of the campaign.
The victory improved Atlanta to a 24-13 record and secured its fourth consecutive postseason appearance. The Dream also moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Reese shot 14-of-21 from the field, surpassing her previous career-high of 27 points, which she set during her rookie season in 2024.
The Dream led 50-35 at halftime before the Mercury mounted a comeback in the third quarter. Phoenix cut the deficit to one, but Atlanta regained control and carried a 73-68 lead into the final frame.
Kahleah Copper led Phoenix with 38 points as the Mercury fell to 13-24.
The postseason berth marks Reese’s first WNBA playoff appearance since entering the league in 2024.
"I think I'm at my best when I'm around the basket, so just staying confident in the shots,” Reese said after the game.
The Dream will next face the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday as they continue their push for a higher playoff seed.
