Police arrested a 39-year-old farmer after he allegedly physically abused his live-in partner and was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Alcala, Pangasinan, early Friday, 21 August.
The incident was reported at about 1:55 a.m. The suspect, a native of Lucao, Nueva Ecija, is currently residing in Alcala.
Police said the victim, also 39, was allegedly assaulted by the suspect, who was reportedly armed.
During the investigation, the victim pointed to a firearm allegedly kept underneath their bed and identified it as belonging to the suspect.
Police recovered a modified shotgun without a serial number, with a magazine containing two rounds of 12-gauge ammunition.
The suspect and the recovered firearm were placed under the custody of the Alcala Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
The suspect may face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
