Land Transportation Office (LTO) agents impounded actor Derek Ramsay’s Porsche 918 Spyder and confiscated the driver’s license of another man after the luxury vehicle was spotted with an unauthorized license plate, agency officials said Thursday.
LTO Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said during a radio interview Thursday that he personally spotted the sports car along EDSA bearing the plate number “AJB 0918.” Subsequent agency verification confirmed no such plate had been issued to a Porsche in the Philippines.
An investigation established Ramsay as the registered owner of the vehicle, though Anthony Jude “AJ” Violago was driving the car when authorities spotted it.
Ramsay and Violago appeared before the LTO after receiving a show-cause order. Ramsay explained he was traveling abroad and had left the vehicle with Violago under a potential sales agreement.
Violago told officials he attached a custom plate featuring his initials to attend an event and was unaware that doing so violated land transportation laws.
Because ownership transfer documents remain unresolved and the license plate was unauthorized, the LTO confiscated Violago’s driver’s license and impounded the supercar pending a formal hearing.
