Davao City — Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte praised the Davao Public Safety and Security Office, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), and partner security agencies following the peaceful conclusion of the Kadayawan 2026 Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and the Pamulak sa Dabaw Floral Parade on Sunday.
Speaking during the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan Grand Showdown at the Davao Coastal Road, Duterte thanked the city’s security personnel for ensuring the safety of residents and visiting tourists throughout the events.
“We should thank the Davao City peace and security personnel for a peaceful Kadayawan 2026, especially the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan and the Pamulak sa Dabaw,” Duterte said. “I would like to remind you that we Dabawenyos have a culture of security here in the city, and I want you to tell those visitors of that culture if ever they come to the city.”
Duterte also reminded attendees to maintain proper waste disposal, citing Davao City’s reputation as one of the cleanest cities in Asia.
The DCPO led security operations at the Davao Coastal Road venue, working alongside the Public Safety and Security Office, the Ecoland Police Station, the City Transport and Traffic Management Office, and the City Tourism Operations Office.
The combined security personnel managed crowd safety and traffic order for thousands of spectators gathered for the festival highlights.
In the competition results, Balangay City High of Mati City won first place in the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan Open Category, securing a record P2-million cash prize — the largest award in the festival’s history.
The 161-member contingent also won awards for Best in Costume, Props, and Aesthetic, Best Choreography, and Best Street Dance.
Meantime, the Sindac Anib Performing Ensemble of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, placed second in the Open Category, earning an P800,000 cash prize alongside the Best in Music award.
