  • DAVAO CITY — The 11 tribes of Davao City will showcase their skills, strength, unity and respect when the much-anticipated Dula Kadayawan Tribal and Moro Games reels off on 15 August at the People’s Park here.

Event coordinator Datu Tahabikal said tribesmen are expected to come in full force to compete in this prestigious event that will not only test their athletic ability but will also showcase their unity and rich heritage.

“The 11 tribes will have Ata, Bagobo-Klata, Bagobo-Tagabawa, Matigsalug, Obu Manuvu, Kagan (Kalagan), Maguindanaon, Maranao, Iranun, Sama and Tausug,” Tahabikal said during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum last Thursday.

Tahabikal said indigenous tribes will compete in games like kakasing, pana, binabayo, totaringki, solopot, siklot, aakrow or karang relay, sisibow, bubuntug, tug of war and sosokoro while the Moro groups will see action in sipa sa manggis, kagkingking, kapakita sa tig, kanggarotaya, katuntol sa tampila, kambaebae, kakorkor and, sipa sa lama.

“Dula sa Kadayawan is more than just a competition. It is a showcase of unity among and within the tribes. It is also a way of showing our rich culture,” he added of the event that is part of the 2026 Kadayawan Festival presented by the City Government of Davao and Mayor Sebastian Duterte.
