TUBOD, Lanao Del Norte --- PLDT recovered from a third set collapse before shutting down Akari, 25-14, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20, to complete a sweep of its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour Showdown on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium here.

Libero Kath Arado made her home province proud with great defensive effort to help the High Speed Hitters win back-to-back for a perfect run in the preseason tournament.

The decorated defense specialist, who hails from Iligan City which is just an hour away from Tubod, tallied 19 digs and seven excellent receptions.

“I’m really motivated because it’s rare for them to watch my games when I’m in Manila. I also want my sibling, who is also a volleyball player, to be inspired to play. I’m just thankful that my family is very supportive whether I play here or in Manila,” Arado said.   

Savi Davison fired 22 points on 19 kills, two kill blocks and an ace to lead the High Speed Hitters to their second win in the preseason tournament.

The Filipino-Canadian winger also added 13 excellent receptions and nine digs in an all-around performance.

Kim Kianna Dy finished with nine points while Mika Reyes, Alleiah Malaluan, Majoy Baron and Jovie Prado chipped in six markers as PLDT displayed balanced scoring to stay unbeaten in the On Tour since its sweeping championship run last year in the inaugural edition.

The club only played two of its scheduled three games in the province-hopping competition after its match against Creamline in Isabela last week was cancelled due to severe weather conditions brought about by tropical depression Maymay.

“It’s just a shame our Isabela leg was cancelled but at least in our last game here in the On Tour we’re able to hit our goal to improve after our win against Choco Mucho,” High Speed Hitters head coach Rald Ricafort said.  

PLDT regrouped in the fourth frame after falling short of a comeback in the third set.

The Chargers shot themselves in the foot with 31 errors as they closed their run with a 1-2 slate.

Faith Nisperos was the lone Akari in double figures with 12 points.
