Electric motorcycles will need to answer more than one question before they become common on Philippine streets.

Riders will look at the price, of course, but they will also want to know where they can have the vehicle serviced, how far it can travel, what happens to the battery after a few years and whether it can handle a wet commute.

Those questions come as VinFast prepares to enter the local e-motorcycle market with three models. The Vietnamese company says it plans to have 28 dealerships with sales and aftersales support as it starts operations in the Philippines.

That network could carry as much weight as the motorcycles themselves. A first-time buyer may be willing to try electric transport, yet that decision becomes harder if the nearest dealer is far away or replacement parts take weeks to arrive.

Warranty coverage, technicians who know the product and access to batteries are part of the ownership experience.

Fuel costs have also kept the conversation alive. Gasoline prices change often, while many households are already watching every expense.

An electric motorcycle can lower day-to-day running costs, although buyers should look past the price tag and ask how the battery arrangement affects their budget.

VinFast will offer its motorcycles with either battery ownership or a battery subscription. The subscription costs P439 a month for one battery or P799 for two.

It lets a rider use VinFast’s battery-swapping stations instead of waiting for a battery to charge at home.

The approach may suit people who need their motorcycle throughout the day. A depleted battery can be exchanged at a station, while home charging remains available for those who have a convenient and secure place to do it.

Buyers who subscribe on or before 30 September receive 12 months of free subscription for one battery and up to 20 free battery swaps a month.

VinFast estimates that its electric models can save between P40,000 and P70,000 over five years against comparable gasoline motorcycles. That figure will still depend on the model, distance traveled, charging habits and future fuel and electricity prices.

For students, young professionals, delivery workers and everyday commuters, the VinFast EVO offers a practical entry point into electric mobility.

With two batteries, it delivers up to 150 km of range under standard conditions and reaches speeds of up to 80 km/h, making it suitable for many daily commutes.

For riders who need their e-motorcycle to fit into more parts of everyday life, the VinFast Feliz II combines practicality, comfort and versatility.

Its flat floorboard and open step-through design make carrying groceries, bags, or everyday essentials more convenient, while its rider-friendly ergonomics make it equally at home on the daily commute or family errands.

It reaches a top speed of up to 90 km/h for everyday urban riding.

For riders who prefer something sportier, the VinFast Viper sits at the top of VinFast’s current lineup.

Its muscular proportions, projector headlights, and TFT display give it a stronger road presence, while its two-battery configuration produces up to 5,200W of power and delivers a top speed of 90 km/h.

Yet it retains the practicality expected from a daily motorcycle with a 21-liter storage compartment, smart key functionality, USB charging port, and IP67 water-resistant motor and controller systems.

Whether the priority is controlling daily expenses, accommodating a family’s everyday needs, or a sportier ride, VinFast’s three-model lineup gives Filipino riders several ways to make the switch to electric motorcycles much easier.
