Some of the biggest names in tennis have become favorites among Filipino fans after crossing paths with Alex Eala on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour.

In an episode of “The Players’ Box Podcast,” Jennifer Brady and world No. 24 Madison Keys even teased world No. 3 Jessica Pegula for winning over more Filipino fans despite her 6-4, 4-6, 0-6 loss to the 21-year-old Eala in the Washington Open final earlier this month.

“Sorry, Jess (Pegula), but we gained a lot of Filipino fans!” Brady said.

“We were all like, sorry you lost, but it could be worse!” Keys added.

Keys, the 2025 Australian Open champion, was amazed by the massive support Eala receives wherever she plays.

“It’s so crazy to see that everywhere Alex goes, she has a full stadium, literally everywhere we ever play. It is so cool to watch her become this massive star,” Keys said.

Keys was one of Eala’s breakthrough victims when the Filipina defeated her in the Round of 32 of the Miami Open last year, announcing herself on the WTA stage.

Eala will next face world No. 77 Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania in the Round of 64 of the Cincinnati Open, with the schedule yet to be announced.
