HYBRID efficiency gives the GAC E8 HEV a claimed driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers.
GAC Philippines has introduced three new multi-purpose vehicles that cover different price points and passenger needs. The lineup consists of the all-new GN6, E8 HEV and GN8 PHEV Executive.
The seven-seat GN6 serves as the most affordable model in the range. It carries a regular price of P1.298 million, while an introductory discount lowers the price to P1.198 million.
A 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine drives the GN6 through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The engine produces 176.7 PS and 270 Nm of torque.
Its cabin has a 190 mm center aisle that provides easier access between the rows. Luggage capacity stands at 324 liters when all seven seats are in use. The third row folds flat into the floor to increase cargo space to 1,100 liters.
The E8 HEV sits in the middle of the MPV family. Its 2.0-liter gasoline engine produces 140 PS and 180 Nm, while the electric motor delivers 182 PS and 300 Nm. GAC pairs the hybrid system with a two-speed dedicated transmission.
According to GAC, the E8 HEV can travel more than 1,000 kilometers on a full 60-liter fuel tank. Its rated fuel consumption is 5.58 liters per 100 kilometers under the WLTC test cycle.
A low 375 mm step helps children and older passengers enter the vehicle. The cabin offers 18 seating arrangements, while its second-row seats have power leg rests, ventilation and massage functions.
The third row can fold into the floor or face outward when the vehicle is parked in what GAC calls Tea Break Mode. Cargo capacity ranges from 345 liters to 1,917 liters.
Prices start at P1.858 million for the E8 HEV GL and P1.998 million for the GX. Introductory prices are P1.778 million and P1.918 million, respectively.
At the top of the range is the GN8 PHEV Executive. The full-size MPV measures 5,247 mm long and has a 3,070 mm wheelbase.
Its plug-in hybrid system combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor. Total output reaches 373 hp and 630 Nm. A 25.5 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 120 kilometers under NEDC testing. GAC claims a combined range of as much as 1,038 kilometers.
Charging the battery from 30 to 80 percent takes about 45 minutes through a DC fast charger.
The GN8 PHEV Executive costs P3.488 million. Its introductory price is P3.338 million.
