Philippine motorcycle sales reached 939,528 units in the first half of 2026, up 3.58 percent from 907,054 units during the same period last year, according to the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA).
A strong opening quarter kept the market in positive territory despite weaker sales from April to June. First-quarter volume rose 11.6 percent to 496,868 units.
Second-quarter sales declined 4.2 percent to 442,660 units from 462,007 units a year earlier. The drop came against a strong performance during the first half of 2025.
Automatic motorcycles remained the most popular category, with 655,004 units sold from January to June.
These models accounted for nearly 70 percent of the total market as riders continued to favor their ease of use and suitability for daily travel.
Business motorcycles followed with sales of 148,989 units. Demand from delivery services, small businesses and other income-generating activities continued to support the category.
Mopeds recorded 107,632 units, while street motorcycles reached 24,346 units. Big-bike sales stood at 2,994 units. Other categories accounted for the remaining 563 units.
MDPPA president Erwin D. Estrada said the industry continued to grow despite more difficult market conditions compared with last year.
He cited affordability, fuel economy and dependable transport as key reasons motorcycles remain useful for work and everyday trips.
The association expects long-term demand to remain steady as many Filipinos continue to seek less expensive personal transport. MDPPA members include Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha.
