BAGUIO CITY — Anti-drug operatives uprooted and destroyed an estimated 100,000 fully grown marijuana plantsworth about P20 million during a two-day operation in Mountain Province.
The plantation, covering around 10,000 square meters, was discovered near the boundary of Sadanga, Mountain Province, and Tinglayan, Kalinga, specifically at Mount Makago-ong in Barangay Saclit, from 11 to 12 July.
The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Mountain Province, the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, the Sadanga Municipal Police Station, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Authorities uprooted and burned all the marijuana plants at the site.
No suspects were arrested during the operation. Investigators are now working to identify the landowners and those responsible for cultivating the illegal plantation, while urging the public to report suspicious farming or drug-related activities.
