BAGUIO CITY-- Joint law enforcement forces uprooted and burned 38,400 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) worth P7.68 million during a two-day eradication operation from 16 to 17 July in Barangay Butbut Proper, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The said marijuana plantation covered an estimated land area of 3,200 square meters. While authorities failed to arrest any cultivators during the raid, investigators are tracking down the individuals and landowners responsible for the illegal plantation.
The operation was carried out by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera alongside various police units, including the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCor), Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Kalinga District.
PDEA Cordillera stated that the successful destruction of the plantation is part of the ongoing strict enforcement against the cultivation and production of illegal drugs within the Cordillera region.
