His journey with the movement began seamlessly in 2017 during a December pop-up, a pivotal moment that breathed new life into his design ethos. “I’ll always be grateful to ArteFino for reigniting my love for doing ready to wear,” Eala reflects with genuine warmth, “and encouraging us to use Philippine-made material and continue the craft of embroidery.”

Over the years, his keen eye for effortless silhouettes birthed a succession of local sartorial phenomena. “My sleeveless tops are a staple. For a while terno tops. Now it’s my kimonos,” Eala shares. “I wanted to create something simple, modern classic basics, stylish but practical — a piece you can wear in any occasion and inclusive to anyone’s wardrobe.” This brilliant balance of commercial power and meticulous design comes alive in his highly anticipated capsule collection for “Isang Dekada,” featuring innovative, reimagined takes on traditional piña fabrics that effortlessly bridge generations of style.
As the retail landscape expands and matures, Eala remains both an astute observer of design evolution and a generous mentor to the community. He recalls the platform’s early days when scenographer Gino Gonzalez did the main display with an installation he recalls “really groundbreaking.”
Today, amid an expanded roster of vendors and elevated curation, the master couturier stays grounded in the collective energy of the festival, constantly fueled by the creative friction of the marketplace. “I look forward to see what the other brands are doing and the crowd’s feedback to the new collection,” Eala notes.
For him, the true metric of success is found in this community-wide growth, highlighting a profound movement where “ArteFino has discovered and encouraged brands and designers to grow and grow with them, and always encouraged us to find our Filipino identity.”
