Toyota Motor Philippines has started retail sales of the ninth-generation Hilux, which arrives with a redesigned diesel range and the nameplate’s first four-wheel-drive battery-electric variant.
The all-new Hilux keeps the ladder-frame construction and load-carrying focus that have long defined the pickup, although Toyota has given it a sharper body and a more modern cabin.
Prices for the diesel models start at P1.772 million, while the Hilux 4x4 BEV costs P2.990 million.
Toyota calls the exterior theme “Cyber Sumo.” The new front end uses C-shaped LED headlamps and a wider honeycomb-pattern grille. A cleaner tail section includes revised lamps and a deck-side step that makes the cargo bed easier to reach.
The diesel lineup runs on Toyota’s 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces 204 PS, with 420 Nm of torque in manual versions and up to 500 Nm in automatic models. The suspension retains double wishbones at the front and a rigid rear axle with leaf springs.
Toyota has added electric power steering to the V and Conquest grades, which should reduce effort during parking and other low-speed maneuvers.
The G and E versions retain hydraulic assistance. The Conquest also gains Multi-Terrain Select with settings for dirt, rock, sand, mogul and mud.
Ground clearance reaches 312 mm across the diesel range. The Hilux BEV has 287 mm and uses a ladder-frame chassis developed for its electric drivetrain.
Toyota added protection around the battery and electric axles to preserve the pickup’s ability to travel over rough ground.
A motor on each axle gives the BEV permanent electric all-wheel drive and a combined output of 196 PS. The front motor produces 200 Nm, while the rear unit delivers 269 Nm. Its 59.2-kWh lithium-ion battery provides up to 315 kilometers of range under the NEDC test cycle.
The electric Hilux supports AC Type 2 and DC CCS2 charging. Buyers receive a wall charger and home installation. Toyota also lists 14 authorized BEV dealerships with charging stations and trained support staff across Luzon and Cebu.
Conquest and V models receive a 12.3-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the G and E use an 8-inch unit with wired smartphone connection.
The BEV also gets a 12.3-inch screen, wireless charging, synthetic leather seats and a Panoramic View Monitor. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is fitted to the electric model and the Conquest, which also comes with seven airbags and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
The diesel lineup includes 4x2 and 4x4 grades, with prices reaching ₱2.631 million for the Hilux 2.8 4x4 Conquest A/T with premium color. Toyota offers the diesel models in several finishes, while the BEV is sold only in Platinum White Pearl Mica.
Toyota will also feature the new Hilux at the Toyota Legacy Experience in Santa Rosa, Laguna, alongside the Land Cruiser FJ and Land Cruiser HEV. The event will include heritage displays and off-road test drives.
