HYBRID power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine paired with an electric motor in the Land Cruiser HEV.

EARLIER Land Cruiser 80 helped build the model’s local following after its Philippine debut in 1990.
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has added a hybrid electric variant to the Land Cruiser lineup, with retail sales of the Land Cruiser HEV starting 24 June.
The new variant was previewed at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show before its local release. It gives the Land Cruiser nameplate a gasoline hybrid option as Toyota continues to widen its range of electrified vehicles in the country.
The Land Cruiser HEV uses a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine paired with a motor generator. The engine produces 415 PS, while the electric motor adds 49 PS.
The system is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Toyota lists torque output at 650 Nm for the gasoline engine and 250 Nm for the motor generator.
The hybrid model sits beside the existing Land Cruiser 300 diesel variant, which uses a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel engine with 306 PS and 700 Nm of torque. Both variants keep a 4x4 drivetrain and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota also changed the steering system for the hybrid model. The Land Cruiser HEV comes with electric power steering, while the diesel model uses hydraulic power steering.
The hybrid variant has 234 millimeters of ground clearance, slightly lower than the diesel variant’s 240 mm. Both versions seat seven passengers and ride on 265/55 R20 alloy wheels.
The Land Cruiser HEV also gets an Aero body kit with Jet-Black Garnish. Other exterior features include split-type LED headlamps, sequential turn signals, LED daytime running lamps, rain-sensing front wipers, roof rails, illuminated side steps, a rear spoiler and a moonroof with tilt, slide and jam-protect functions.
It also gets a 12.3-inch full digital meter display, head-up display, 12.3-inch display audio, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, six USB-C ports, front wireless charging and a 14-speaker JBL sound system.
Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, pre-collision system, adaptive high beam system, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert and dynamic radar cruise control.
TMP first vice president for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial said the Land Cruiser HEV gives customers another powertrain choice while keeping the model’s long-running reputation for durability and performance.
“The Land Cruiser HEV is part of Toyota’s efforts in offering different powertrains that address our customers’ needs and lifestyles. Customers who want to experience the legendary heritage and proven performance of the Land Cruiser while having access to Toyota’s hybrid technology will find this car to be the perfect choice as their partner on the road. We hope the addition of the Land Cruiser HEV to Toyota’s wide lineup of cars gives our customers the power of choice when it comes to their mobility needs,” Marcial said.
