The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has arrested one of its most wanted persons, a Chinese national who had been on the run for years.
The suspect, a 34-year-old former Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) employee, was apprehended on Friday in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City.
She is wanted for violating the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, or Republic Act 10883.
Police said the accused allegedly conspired to steal a Toyota Alphard worth P2.7 million in 2021.
Following the theft, she allegedly demanded P3 million in exchange for the vehicle’s return. After a previous arrest for extortion, the suspect posted bail and went into hiding.
She is now being held at the Dumaguete City Police Station while awaiting a commitment order from the court.
