Police arrested 33 individuals and seized more than P1.41 million worth of suspected illegal drugs in 25 anti-drug operations conducted across the Ilocos Region from July 8 to 14, 2026, according to the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1).
In a report, PRO 1 said the weeklong operations resulted in the confiscation of 119.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and 5,009.02 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves, with a combined Standard Drug Price of P1,413,682.40.
Among the operations highlighted by police was a buy-bust conducted in Alilem, Ilocos Sur on July 10, where two individuals identified as high-value targets were arrested.
Authorities said approximately five kilograms of suspected marijuana, valued at around P600,000, were recovered during the operation.
PRO 1 attributed the results to intelligence-driven operations, strengthened coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and joint law enforcement efforts carried out under the police regional office's Enhanced A.L.E.R.T.O. Framework.
Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr., regional director of PRO 1, said the campaign against illegal drugs remains one of the region's priority law enforcement efforts to curb crimes associated with the illegal drug trade.
He also called on the public to continue cooperating with authorities by providing information that could help in anti-drug operations, saying community participation plays a key role in preventing criminal activity and maintaining public safety.
The arrested individuals are expected to face charges for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The seized substances will undergo laboratory examination as part of the investigation.
