The Lucio Tan-led Philippine National Bank was hailed by the Asian Banking & Finance Awards 2026 as Domestic Retail Bank of the Year — Philippines under the Retail Banking Awards and Financial Inclusion Initiative of the Year — Philippines under the Wholesale Banking Awards, underscoring its continued momentum in strengthening retail banking and expanding financial inclusion through digital innovation.
“These awards reflect PNB’s commitment to serving the evolving needs of our customers through innovation, accessibility, and meaningful financial solutions,” said PNB president and chief executive officer Edwin Bautista. “Whether through strengthening our retail banking franchise or expanding access to digital financial services, we remain focused on creating opportunities that empower individuals, businesses, and communities across the country.”
The citations were presented during a ceremony at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, recognizing outstanding achievements and innovation among financial institutions across Asia.
PNB was named Domestic Retail Bank of the Year for its strong retail banking performance in 2025, highlighted by surpassing the P1-trillion deposit milestone while accelerating its transformation into a more digitally enabled and customer-focused bank.
Growth was driven by sustained investments in branch modernization, digital capabilities, customer acquisition, and cross-selling initiatives.
During the year, PNB expanded its branch network through new locations and renovations while enhancing customer convenience through digital banking platforms.
Among the Bank’s key initiatives was the launch of its Mobile Account Application, which enables customers to open accounts entirely through their mobile devices.
Within its first year, the platform generated more than 100,000 new accounts, with over 80 percent coming from new-to-bank customers, broadening access to banking services while contributing to deposit growth.
