The Republic of Nauru is promoting its Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program to Filipino families seeking greater security, global mobility and long-term climate resilience.
Launched in late 2024, the program is being presented as an option for families looking to expand travel, educational and economic opportunities amid growing geopolitical and environmental challenges.
Nauru said the initiative has already attracted applications from across Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Vietnam, with some applicants based in Singapore. The Pacific island nation identified the Philippines as a key market due to its large population of globally mobile professionals, entrepreneurs and overseas Filipino workers.
According to the Nauruan government, the program is designed to address increasing climate-related risks by supporting both family security and the country’s adaptation efforts. It cited its Higher Ground Initiative, which seeks to strengthen resilience against rising sea levels and other long-term environmental threats.
Nauru also highlighted the advantages of holding citizenship from a politically neutral Pacific nation, saying the program offers internationally mobile professionals and investors an alternative option outside major geopolitical blocs.
The government said the citizenship initiative is structured to benefit entire families by providing future generations with expanded educational and mobility opportunities while allowing them to remain together.
Applicants are subject to comprehensive due diligence measures, including international law enforcement screening and financial background checks, according to the government. These safeguards, it said, are intended to preserve the integrity of the program.
Nauru added that contributions made under the program are directed toward projects that support the country’s economic development and climate resilience efforts.
The Economic and Climate Resilience Citizenship Program aims to provide participating families with enhanced security and global mobility while helping fund Nauru’s climate adaptation and economic resilience initiatives.
