Prime Video has revealed that its upcoming scripted drama about boxing legend Muhammad Ali, The Greatest, will make its global debut on 4 November.
The premiere date was unveiled during the ESSENCE Festival of Culture®, where the streaming platform also offered audiences a first glimpse of the series through an exclusive teaser.
Leading the presentation were series creator and showrunner Ben Watkins, lead actor Jaalen Best, who takes on the role of Cassius Clay before becoming Muhammad Ali, and cast members Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy. The panel, moderated by ESPN and ABC News journalist Kelley Carter, discussed the creative process behind bringing one of sports' most influential figures to television.
Described as an intimate portrait of Ali's remarkable life, The Greatest traces the journey of the boxing champion whose influence extended far beyond the ring. The series explores both his personal and public life, highlighting the experiences that shaped him into a celebrated athlete, humanitarian and global icon.
The project carries special significance as the first officially authorized scripted series based on Muhammad Ali's life. It is executive produced by his widow, Lonnie Ali, providing the production with unique insight into the legendary boxer's story.
The Greatest is produced through a collaboration between Ben Watkins' Blue Monday Productions, Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment, and Grace: A Storytelling Company, with Watkins serving as showrunner and executive producer.
The series will be available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
