DOJ, Quezon City launch digital platforms to modernize prosecution services

DEPARTMENT of Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida
The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Quezon City government have launched two digital platforms aimed at improving prosecution services and modernizing case management.
Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida led the launch of the Online Prosecutor's Clearance Application System (OPCAS) and the Digital Case Management System (CMS) during ceremonies at Quezon City Hall on 29 June.
Also present were Quezon City Mayor Ma. Josefina G. Belmonte, Justice Undersecretaries Ian Norman E. Dato and Garney M. Candelaria, Quezon City Prosecutor Vimar M. Barcellano, DOJ officials, and representatives from the city government and prosecution offices.
The Online Prosecutor's Clearance Application System allows applicants to apply for and obtain a prosecutor's clearance entirely online through Quezon City's eServices platform, eliminating the need to visit prosecution offices in person.
Meanwhile, the Digital Case Management System enables prosecutors to electronically record case information, monitor the status of cases in real time, and improve coordination and case tracking.
The DOJ said the platforms are part of its continuing efforts to modernize the justice system by making prosecution services more accessible while helping prosecutors manage their workload more efficiently through faster access to accurate case information.
Vidal said the initiative reflects the department's commitment to delivering more efficient and responsive public service through digital innovation.
He also commended Quezon City prosecutors for promptly handling cases despite the heavy workload of the city's prosecution office.
"I am confident that these reforms will further strengthen public confidence in the justice system and reinforce the public's trust in government," Vidal said.
The DOJ said the launch of the online prosecutor's clearance application and digital case management systems supports its broader goal of expanding access to justice and improving the efficiency of prosecution services nationwide.
