PETValue Philippines and Republic Cement showcase the power of collaboration through their Zero Waste to Landfill Partnership, supporting the Aboitiz Group’s sustainability agenda and advancing its circular economy goals.
PETValue Philippines Corp. and Republic Cement & Building Materials Inc. (RCBM) have formalized a Zero Waste to Landfill Partnership aimed at advancing circular economy practices by ensuring plastic waste generated during the recycling process is diverted from landfills and repurposed for productive use.
The partnership, formalized on 3 July in General Trias, Cavite, aligns with the sustainability agenda of the Aboitiz Group and seeks to strengthen waste recovery efforts through collaboration between the recycling and cement manufacturing sectors.
Under the agreement, plastic components separated during PETValue’s bottle-to-bottle recycling operations, including caps and labels, will be recovered by ecoloop, Republic Cement’s resource recovery arm, and co-processed as alternative fuel in cement manufacturing.
PETValue, a joint venture between Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Indorama Ventures, operates the country’s first food-grade bottle-to-bottle PET recycling facility. The company processes post-consumer clear PET bottles into food-grade recycled PET resin used in the production of new beverage bottles.
“The collaboration ensures that materials which cannot be recycled into new bottles are diverted from landfill and transformed into valuable resources, demonstrating how industries can work together to close the loop on waste of all forms,” the companies said.
Republic Cement said it has diverted more than 1.5 million tons of residual plastic waste from landfills through co-processing initiatives that convert waste materials into alternative fuel for cement manufacturing.
PETValue’s facility in General Trias, Cavite converts post-consumer PET bottles into food-grade recycled PET, supporting the country’s recycling ecosystem and broader efforts to promote resource efficiency and waste reduction.
The companies said the initiative demonstrates how integrated solutions can help maximize resource recovery, minimize waste, and support the transition toward a more circular economy in the Philippines.
