The local art and hospitality landscape expanded its global footprint as Kate Contemporary collaborated with Hotel 101 Madrid for a spectacular, boundary-breaking early summer soirée last 24 June.
This landmark alliance between Europe’s only Philippine-owned contemporary gallery and the hotel chain’s premier European venture transformed an airy multifunction terrace into a vibrant hub of culture and curated design.
The evening seamlessly bridged East and West, juxtaposing the evocative canvases of Filipino visionaries Aileen Lanuza, Vincent de Pio and Kim Borja with the arresting visual narratives of Japanese artists Takahiro Hirabayashi and Tadashi Kashiwada. Immersed in an atmosphere of refined patriotism and community, a distinguished crowd — led by His Excellency Ambassador Philippe Jones Lhuillier — celebrated this unique global dialogue where Filipino creativity took the spotlight.
True style is entirely timeless, a sentiment perfectly captured as guests indulged in premium Japanese-inspired gastronomy paired with crisp sparkling sake and fine Japanese whiskey against a backdrop of live jazz.
Beyond the multi-sensory feast, the evening served as an essential platform for future-forward vision. Kate Contemporary’s Mia Y. Marchadesch-Jaranilla and Joaquín Carlos U. de Jesús articulated a passion for cultivating next-generation art collectors, while Hotel 101’s Fernando Herrera-Lasso unveiled the brand’s expansive trajectory toward Hokkaido’s Hotel 101-Niseko.
As the night unfolded under the Madrid sky, the affair beautifully underscored the power of homegrown ingenuity, proving that when local hospitality and global artistic vision intersect, they create an elevated blueprint for modern cultural diplomatic flair.
