Peter Parker enters a new chapter in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and this time, his search for answers leads him to an unlikely ally — and a formidable opponent.
Opening in Philippine cinemas on 29 July, the latest Marvel adventure follows Peter Parker as he embraces life as Spider-Man in a world that no longer remembers who he is. With his closest friends moving forward without him, Peter finds himself grappling with isolation while navigating the challenges of adulthood and heroism.
Tom Holland, who reprises his role as the web-slinging superhero, describes the film as a turning point for the character.
"It's a fresh start, where Peter Parker is experiencing something profound and unique in the superhero genre," Holland said. "It's a movie about when young people find their identity and become adults. Peter is embarking upon a new chapter."
Director Destin Daniel Cretton explained that Peter's emotional struggles are mirrored by unexpected physical changes, setting the stage for one of the film's biggest storylines.
Seeking to understand what is happening to him, Peter turns to renowned scientist Dr. Bruce Banner. Although Banner no longer recognizes Peter, the two quickly connect over their shared love of science, creating what Mark Ruffalo fondly describes as a "science bros" dynamic.
Their partnership, however, is short-lived.
Peter's visit ultimately leads to a showdown with Banner's fearsome alter ego, Savage Hulk, marking the green giant's return to his more primal comic book roots after audiences last saw the more intellectual Smart Hulk in Avengers: Endgame.
"I think fans will love finally seeing Hulk and Spider-Man share the screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe," Ruffalo said. "Their comic book adventures together are legendary. Banner and Peter really hit it off as science bros — but things don't stay that way for long."
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also highlighted the long-awaited crossover, saying the opportunity to reunite Spider-Man and Hulk on the big screen was something the filmmakers had been eager to bring to audiences, with Ruffalo once again delivering another memorable take on Bruce Banner.
The film also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman and Michael Mando.
