The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) arrested 262 wanted persons and apprehended more than 57,000 violators of local ordinances across the Ilocos Region in June as part of its intensified campaign against criminality and efforts to maintain public safety.
In a report released Thursday, PRO 1 said the arrests were made from June 1 to 30 under its Enhanced A.L.E.R.T.O. Framework.
Of the 262 wanted persons arrested, 45 were classified as Most Wanted Persons, including five at the regional level, 11 at the provincial level, eight at the city level, and 21 at the municipal level. The remaining 217 were arrested in separate police operations across the region.
PRO 1 also intensified the enforcement of local ordinances under its Safer Cities Initiatives, resulting in the apprehension of 57,122 violators during the same period.
Police said 49,071 violators were cited for provincial, city, and municipal ordinance violations, including traffic-related offenses. Another 3,889 were apprehended for other ordinance violations, while 2,376 individuals were caught drinking liquor or smoking in public places.
Authorities also recorded 955 minors who violated curfew ordinances, 663 individuals found roaming public areas without shirts, 146 violators cited for road-clearing violations involving illegal structures and obstructions, and 22 individuals apprehended for operating videoke units beyond the prescribed hours.
Of the total violators, 51,315 paid fines, while 5,807 were issued warnings and released in accordance with existing laws and local ordinances. The month-long enforcement campaign generated ₱24.24 million in fines.
PRO 1 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. said the operations were aimed at enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order in communities across the region.
"Ang bawat pag-aresto ay isang hakbang tungo sa mas ligtas na mga komunidad. Hindi lamang ito usapin ng bilang ng mga naaaresto, kundi ng pagpapatupad ng batas at pagtiyak sa kaligtasan at kapanatagan ng ating mga mamamayan," Badua said.
He added that the sustained implementation of the Safer Cities Initiatives reflects the police force's continuing efforts to enforce local ordinances while promoting public discipline through increased police visibility and coordination with local government units.
PRO 1 said it will continue operations against wanted persons and intensify the enforcement of local ordinances as part of its efforts to maintain peace, order, and public safety throughout the Ilocos Region.
