Senator Rodante Marcoleta stood before the crowd at the People Power Monument on Wednesday evening and made his terms plain: arrest him, if that’s the cost of justice.

“I am prepared to be imprisoned. If it is necessary for me to be arrested, I have no problem with that.”

“If this is the price that is being asked of me to defend justice, the nation’s welfare, and the interests of the Filipino people,” the senator said in Filipino, on the second day of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) protest.

The massive rally has been staged primarily to protest the political targeting of Marcoleta and other opposition figures.

Marcoleta thanked members of the INC, as well as non-members, for participating in the protest and expressing support for the gathering.

“Thank you to all our brothers and sisters in the Iglesia ni Cristo. Thank you also to those who are not members but agree with and support our unity tonight,” he said.

The Office of the Ombudsman recently announced that it was preparing a plunder case against Marcoleta over the alleged P75 million in campaign donations that the senator received during the 2025 election period.

“They turned all of this into politics,” the senator said in response to the Ombudsman.
