  • The Philippine National Police (PNP) released a statement on Monday, saying it placed several police units under full alert status and deployed thousands of security personnel as a public assembly continues at the People Power Monument along EDSA on Tuesday.

According to the PNP, the Police Regional Offices 3 and 4A, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), National Support Units (NSUs), and Crame-based offices were positioned to ensure the safety of the general public while maintaining operational readiness.

As of 9:00 a.m., 5,936 police and security personnel have been assigned to locations, including the People Power Monument, EDSA Shrine, the Senate of the Philippines, Mendiola, Ayala Bridge, the U.S. Embassy, Liwasang Bonifacio, and other identified areas.

The PNP said Civil Disturbance Management contingents, including the Reactionary Standby Support Forces (RSSF) and Quick Reaction Forces, remain on standby if the situation continues to arise.

The PNP also reiterated that it recognizes and respects every Filipino's constitutional right to peacefully assemble and express their views, and that it continues to uphold human rights, performing their duties with professionalism and restraint.

The PNP added that its commitment is to maintaining peace and order while safeguarding both public safety and the constitutional rights of every Filipino.
