An easy way to learn financial management is by playing the Kitabahayan game co-developed by the BDO Foundation (BDOF) and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) for mortgage customers.
The SHFC and BDOF organize financial management training sessions for homeowner featuring the playing of the Kitabahayan that simulates real-world scenarios such as starting a business, opening a savings account, preparing for emergencies and managing housing-related expenses. While playing the game, participants gain practical knowledge on making smart financial decisions while working toward their selected financial goals.
Recognizing SHFC’s strong commitment to providing inclusive and sustainable housing for communities, BDOF collaborated with the agency to spearhead the training for six initial batches of 45 participants, each conducted from October 2025 to May 2026. This initial rollout included two sessions for SHFC employees and four for community associations.
The SHFC also conducted a Kitabahayan training for homeowners in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan as well as members of the Pillar Village Homeowners’ Association Inc. in May.
Following the successful rollout of Kitabahayan, BDOF further strengthened its partnership with SHFC by supporting 15 additional batches with 60 participants each, allowing the training to reach even more communities.
An invitation to train Department of Human’s Settlement and Urban Development led to SHFC collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other shelter agencies to roll out the program nationwide.
This continued support reflects SHFC’s unwavering commitment to empowering its member-beneficiaries through financial literacy, sustainable community development and stronger economic resilience.
