From irrigation to floodwaters to students’ safety, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s week centered on ensuring that all government projects were up and running.
Infrastructure and budget transparency topped Marcos’ agenda last week as his administration pushed projects to boost farm output, upgrade healthcare, strengthen disaster defenses, and reform public financial management.
The President’s engagements from 22 to 26 June underscored the government’s twin track: to build and to account for roads and hospitals on one side, audits and safeguards on the other.
The message was clear: services delivered must show results.

Making water supply reliable
The President started the week by inaugurating the P833.37-million Mabini-Cayacay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project in Bohol which is expected to provide irrigation water to 530 hectares of farmland and benefit 717 farmers.
Implemented by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the project will serve agricultural areas in Barangays Abaca, San Roque, Aguipo and Cabidian in Mabini, and Barangay Cayacay in Alicia.
The facility draws water from the Baujanan and Cawasan creeks for distribution to farms within the service area. The reservoir can accommodate 3.82 million cubic meters.
Nutrition, safety take center stage
The President inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Mananga River in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu and vowed to sustain the government’s efforts to prevent communities from suffering the constant devastation caused by typhoons, flooding and river overflows.
He said funds for the rehabilitation are included in the National Expenditure Program (NEP) for 2027, which also covers the construction of a 70-meter dam along the Mananga River.
