The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said it has resolved 1,174 complaints filed by homebuyers against property developers through a mass conciliation program launched in May, as the agency steps up efforts to expedite dispute resolution.
The conciliation sessions, held at the DHSUD Central Office in Quezon City and in Calamba City, brought together homebuyers and developers to settle complaints without prolonged legal proceedings. Similar programs have also been rolled out in DHSUD regional offices.
The department said the initiative aims to provide faster and more accessible remedies for homebuyers while ensuring fair resolution of disputes.
The update came as DHSUD also awarded individual land titles to about 460 members of the Sitio Sto. Niño de Pasig Homeowners Association Inc. in Antipolo City under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program, part of the government's Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) initiative.
The beneficiaries, many of them now senior citizens, received their Transfer Certificates of Title nearly four decades after they began seeking ownership of the property.
Association president Salvacion Iliw-Iliw said the awarding secured not only the land but also the future of hundreds of families who had waited almost 38 years for ownership.
The awarding ceremony was attended by DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, Rizal Gov. Nina Ricci Ynares and Social Housing Finance Corp. President Federico Laxa.
