DepEd's regional office said the incident, which circulated on social media and students' group chats on Tuesday morning, was immediately reported to the Schools Division Office of Leyte, the Tolosa Municipal Police Station (MPS), and other concerned authorities.
School officials also activated established safety and security protocols.
"Further investigation revealed that the threat was not linked to an actual planned attack," DepEd said.
The Tolosa MPS traced the origin of the online post and identified the source of the threat. Police then held a meeting with the minor involved, a family member, school heads from Tolosa, and representatives of the Leyte Provincial Police Office (LPPO).
In a social media post after the meeting, the Tolosa MPS said discussions focused on strengthening coordination between the Philippine National Police and educational institutions to ensure the safety and security of students, teachers, and school personnel.
A teacher at Tolosa National High School said the reported threat had already been addressed on the day it surfaced online, with follow-up meetings conducted between provincial and municipal police officers and school officials.
On Friday, the LPPO reiterated that all reported threats are treated seriously and immediately subjected to verification and appropriate police action.
However, it said its validation found no real danger.
"Validation and assessment established that while a threat message was posted and circulated online, there was no indication of any coordinated activity nor any actual or imminent danger related to the reported threat," the LPPO said.
"The immediate response and validation conducted by police authorities, in coordination with concerned stakeholders, effectively addressed the situation, implemented appropriate interventions, and reassured the community," it added.
