The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed qualified human trafficking charges against former lawmaker Mike Defensor, his wife Julie Rose Defensor, and several others linked to a Pasig City KTV establishment raided in April over alleged sexual exploitation activities involving women.
NBI director Melvin Matibag said the complaint was anchored on evidence gathered during the raid, including corporate records, business documents and findings from the rescue of more than 50 alleged victims.
Matibag also presented photographs and other evidence recovered from the establishment, including pregnancy test kits allegedly used to determine whether female workers had become pregnant.
He said many of the women were single mothers seeking employment, making them vulnerable to exploitation.
