Soroptimist, ZANECO plant 2,000 mangroves

Published on

The Soroptimist International of Ortigas and Environs and ZANECO planted 2,000 Piapi (mangrove) seedlings in Barangay Baylimango, Dapitan on 9 February to strengthen the Zamboanga del Norte coastline against erosion and to support marine biodiversity.

The effort is part of the Soroptimist Go Green Campaign (Biennium 2024-2026) led by Soroptimist Governor Marivic Paras, focusing on climate action, environmental stewardship and sustainable coastal management.

Early last year, Soroptimist initiated the planting of 100 mangroves in the coastal areas of Malolos and Hagonoy, Bulacan. The planting took place in the Great Wall of Mangroves, a conservation project in the said coastal areas.
