Building a wardrobe of pieces that feel like old friends — reliable, versatile and quietly stylish — is a must.
For Spring/Summer 2026, the spotlight falls on “Ultimate Basic,” a fresh take on clothes that handle daily life with ease while adding a spark of joy.
These aren’t just basics; they’re thoughtfully upgraded for the tropical hustle — light fabrics that breathe; colors that pop against the sun and silhouettes that flow from morning coffee runs to evening outings. Unveiled at an exclusive event in Intramuros, the collection channels that craving for outfits that look good and feel even better.
“We elevate everything essential for this 2026 spring summer collection preview,” said Philippines’ Uniqlo chief operating officer (COO) Geraldine Sia to DAILY TRIBUNE. “Customers can expect a seasonal lineup that’s both stylish and functional, curated for our Philippine weather.”
The “Ultimate Basic” idea stems from what we all need now: everyday wear that blends comfort and style. Think fun palettes, smart patterns, relaxed lines and fabrics built for the heat — perfect armor for humid days.
“Our goal is to create clothes designed for life’s needs, following our LifeWear philosophy,” Sia added in a speech during the Intramuros event. “This new collection offers light, airy pieces that are fresh to look at and fun to style, so everyone can savor the warm weather.”
Marketing director Jan Ang notes how staples like jeans, tees, linen, shorts and utility wear get a sophisticated lift. “We’ve added new styles, colors, patterns and innovations for enhanced comfort — get creative this season,” she said, before showcasing the lineup with local celebrity partners.
On stage, “Popstar Royalty” Sarah Geronimo and actor Matteo Guidicelli championed the Core T-shirts and Linen line. Actress Solenn Heussaff also spotlighted Linen for warmer months, with model Anthony Constantino on Jeans, athlete Kianna Dy for UV (ultraviolet) Protection and actress Alexa Ilacad for Bra Tops.
Urban Rome vibes in your closet
Drawing from Rome’s laidback city streets, the collection brings together oversized shirts and shorts — a comfortable, chic combo for urban adventures or getaways. Clean lines and crisp whites echo modern architecture, while linen keeps it breezy. Geronimo nailed it at the event, layering linen over “T-shirt core.”
“Mix them up daily for endless satisfaction — they’re comfortable and versatile,” she said. “Express your mood through color and style. Just have fun!”
Jeans? Absolutely for summer. The brand refines them around fit, fabric and finish — baggy and EZY styles that balance style, comfort and timeless appeal. Constantino called them “an old reliable upgraded with better fabric and craftsmanship. So comfortable, you’d sleep in them.”
Amalfi Coast freshness for lighter days
Coastal inspiration shines in breathable picks like the Women’s Ribbed Cropped Bra Top, AIRism Bra Sleeveless Top, Premium Linen Longsleeve Shirt and Linen Blend Easy Pants. Add AIRism innerwear such as the Bra Camisole, Sleeveless Top or Cotton Crew Neck T-shirt for all-day ease.
Alexa loves the Bra Top: “It’s light, low-maintenance, with fresh hues and patterns. I hadn’t worn one since my teens, but this one’s so well-made. Never shy away from trying new things.”
Guidicelli praised the linen’s relaxed shoulders and hem: “Comfortable yet stylish — pure summer vibes.”
Heussaff agreed: “It’s my wardrobe’s most comfortable, elegant piece right now — light, airy, flowy. Pair it with shoes or accessories; layer if you like.”
Sun-smart style with UV protection
Stay confident outdoors with pieces like the Ultra Stretch AIRism UV Protection Full-zip Hoodie — UV-blocking with a cool-to-touch feel — or the Dry-EX UV Full Zip Hoodie and Crew Neck Longsleeve Cardigan. Dy is all in: “With hot, humid weather coming, these refresh my active wardrobe. UV protection gives peace of mind, and the colors and casual styles match everything.”
Top it off with the new eyewear line — frames for every look, making summer staples even more complete.
