Police authorities in Mimaropa reported that 40 individuals associated with the Communist Party of the Philippines–New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) have surrendered or been arrested in the region over the past four months.

Data from the Police Regional Office Mimaropa show that from 6 October 2025, to 23 February 2026, thirty-six individuals voluntarily yielded, while four were arrested during separate operations. Five of those were listed in the police’s Periodic Status Report.

Police said the continuous surrenders resulted from intensified operations and strengthened coordination among intelligence, maritime, and local government units. The regional campaign follows the Philippine National Police’s anti-insurgency framework, which combines law enforcement with community-based programs.

The most recent surrender involved a former NPA member from the dismantled Komiteng Larangang Gerilya South, Bienvenido Vallever Command, operating under the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee. The individual turned himself in to police personnel in Barangay Tagusao, Quezon, Palawan, on February 23.

Authorities said the returnee is under custodial debriefing and documentation for possible enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

Regional police officials said they would continue to pursue members of remaining armed groups while supporting reintegration efforts for those who opt to surrender.
