The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, intercepted a parcel from the United States containing suspected shabu valued at over P800,000 at the Central Mail Exchange Center on 20 February.
The parcel was flagged during a routine inspection after authorities noted inconsistencies between its declared contents and packaging.
A physical examination led to the discovery of the illegal substance, with an estimated street value of P822,800.
A claimant who attempted to retrieve the parcel at the CMEC window was arrested following the discovery.
The seized items and the arrested individual were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and further investigation.
Authorities said the case involves violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended, and Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
