

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reaffirmed its continuing defense cooperation with Thailand during the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day Reception held on 19 February at Mayuree Ballroom I, Dusit Hotel.
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. underscored the enduring friendship and strong defense partnership between the Philippines and Thailand during the event.
Brawner attended the reception alongside senior defense and diplomatic officials from both nations. The event was hosted by Her Excellency Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Philippines, and was attended by Senior Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino of the Department of National Defense, members of the diplomatic corps, defense attachés, and other distinguished guests.
One of the highlights of the evening was a martial and cultural showcase featuring the Royal Thai Army Martial Arts Team and the Philippine Army Arnis Team. The program also included a performance of the traditional Thai “Khon” dance and a presentation by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) String Ensemble, demonstrating shared respect that goes beyond defense cooperation and celebrates the rich heritage of both nations.
As the program concluded, the AFP reaffirmed its commitment to further deepening defense ties with Thailand through sustained engagements and high-level exchanges. The celebration of Royal Thai Armed Forces Day underscored the two nations’ shared vision of peace and prosperity.
