The newly built Clark Aviation Capital (CAC) Picnic Grounds along Gil Puyat Avenue near Clark International Airport will soon open as a free community park for visitors to the Clark Freeport Zone.
The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) announced the development on 20 February 2026, describing it as a new public and tourism space within the Freeport.
CIAC President Jojit Alcazar said the modernized picnic grounds are designed as an accessible public area at no cost. The park will feature jogging and walking paths, recreational and wellness facilities, an amphitheater, a playground, a pet park and expansive open spaces.
The development will also include a stormwater reservoir or catch basin for flood mitigation, parking areas, park benches, coffee shops, community gardens and food and beverage stalls, making it suitable for family outings, picnics and leisure activities.
Alcazar said planners preserved the site’s century-old acacia trees planted in the early 1900s during the American colonial period. No trees were cut during construction.
The CAC Picnic Grounds form part of CIAC’s Seven Flagship Projects under its Urban Renewal and Heritage Conservation Program, which aims to promote sustainable urban planning within the Clark Freeport Zone.
“Once completed, the CAC Picnic Grounds will complement other designated outdoor areas in Clark, including the Clark Parade Grounds, Bicentennial Park, and Air Force City Park. The project’s initial phase of development, covering five hectares of the nine-hectare CIAC property, is almost complete and is expected to open to the public soon,” Alcazar said.
CIAC said the project is part of broader efforts to enhance public spaces and strengthen community engagement in Clark while advancing plans to position the civil aviation complex as a global aviation and logistics hub.
